The Illinois Symphony Orchestra Guild of Bloomington-Normal will soon hold its annual private lesson scholarship audition on April 23rd, Sunday, from 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the Second Presbyterian Church of Bloomington, Illinois. McLean county students in grades 8-11 who play an orchestral instrument are eligible to audition for the following scholarships:
$500 - The Brenda Azinger Memorial Scholarship - 1st place
$400- 2nd place
$300- 3rd place
These scholarships will be applied toward private lessons with area professional musicians. Audition procedures require that students prepare a solo that is no longer than 5 minutes. Two judges will write a critique of the performance based on some of the following criteria: accuracy to rhythm, tone quality, articulation, bowing, musicianship, intonation, and choice of literature.
Thank you Guild members for making these scholarships available to our youth who are the future of tomorrow's symphonies.
Thank you to our members! Membership provides a way to connect and work together to elevate the power of music to enrich our community. You've chosen to lend your time and financial support to scholarships for tomorrow's music and to elevate today's musicians. We look forward to seeing you at all the upcoming concerts! And if you aren't already involved in one of the bridge, mahjong, book club, or other regular activities, reach out to the membership director, Deena Coffman at (917) 628-9758 or firstname.lastname@example.org for help making the most of your membership
