This fall, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra Guild of Springfield is bringing the heat with SIX fabulous celebrity community members ready to take the podium and lead the ISO in a dazzling performance of Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride at our Holiday Pops in the Heartland concert on December 13th!

Michelle Eccles

Local host of Morning Edition on NPR Illinois, Public Relations Manager at Horace Mann

Michelle Eccles is the local host of Morning Edition on NPR Illinois and Public Relations Manager at Horace Mann. Michelle’s husband, Joey McLaughlin, is morning host on WTAX-AM/FM and they are proud parents to three adult children, Sarah, Jack and Natalie.

While Michelle largely enjoys music from the audience or backstage, it has always had a powerful presence in her life. “The sounds of a symphony really can influence your mood and emotions.” It is important to support music in our communities.

Jennifer Gill

Superintendent for District 186

Jennifer Gill has served as Superintendent of Springfield Public School District 186 for over 11 years, leading over 13,000 students. A lifelong Springfield resident and graduate, she holds a Bachelor’s in Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Her career includes roles as Director of Teaching and Learning at McLean County Unit 5 and principal positions in Springfield, where she led McClernand Elementary to an Illinois State Board of Education award for improving student achievement.

Jennifer is active in the community, serving on boards such as Memorial Health System, Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance, and the YMCA. She also chaired the Greater Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and contributed to the United Way. Married with two grown children, she is proud of the passage of a facilities tax that enabled major school renovations. Her mother, Judith Stack, was a violinist and orchestra teacher in Springfield Public Schools.
