Summer Strings 2024

Have fun with music this summer! The Illinois Symphony Orchestra is excited to offer summer opportunities for early through more advanced string players in the Springfield area! Our Illinois Symphony Youth Orchestras (ISYO) program will provide half-day Summer Strings camps at The Grant Conservatory of Music & Dance from June 10-14, 2024. There will be two camp options available to students this summer! Tuition assistance is available to families who qualify!

Allegro Strings Camp: For current Starter Strings or early-stage musicians interested in taking the next step with their string instrument (violin, viola, cello, or bass)

Allegro Strings Camp includes five days of fun exploration and music-making, including rehearsals, sectionals, technique classes, enrichment classes, and mini-concerts given by professional string players. Students will learn from music educators about popular and classical music and how it is used in orchestras. There will be a final performance showcasing what students have learned on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:30 AM. 
Allegro Camp Schedule: 8:30 - 12:00 PM (drop-off beginning at 8:10 AM & pick-up by 12:20 PM) 
Tuition: $175
*Tuition includes instruction, daily snack, and end-of-week concert and party!

Vivace Strings Camp: For string musicians currently participating in ISYO Preparatory Orchestra and Concert Orchestra or with approximately 2-5 years of playing experience

Vivace Strings Camp includes five days of fun and music-making, including orchestral rehearsals, small group sectionals, technique classes, enrichment classes, and mini-concerts given by professional string players. Students will learn popular and traditional orchestral music pieces from music educators and professional musicians. There will be a final performance showcasing what students have learned on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
Vivace Camp Schedule: 1:00-4:30 PM (drop-off beginning at 12:40 PM & pick-up by 4:50 PM)
Tuition: $175
