Celebrate Independence Day weekend early with an unforgettable night at the ballpark as the ‘Shoes take on the Alton River Dragons!

Kick off the evening with a stirring patriotic performance by the Illinois Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble, playing the National Anthem, God Bless America, and more—setting the tone for a night full of pride and excitement.

On the field, the ‘Shoes will sport special Patriotic Jerseys, adding to the festive spirit. Then, stick around after the final out as the sky comes alive with an incredible postgame fireworks spectacular presented by CEFCU.

Springfield Lucky Horseshoes

While the history of baseball in Springfield dates back to 1925, this iteration of the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes franchise was founded in 2008 as the Springfield Sliders. Following a championship season in the final year of the Central Illinois Collegiate League, the franchise joined the Prospect League prior to the 2009 season where they have played ever since. Over that time, the league has expanded from 11 teams to 16 teams with numerous Major League Players making their way through Springfield in the process.

The Lucky Horseshoes’ are the longest continuous tenants of Robin Roberts Stadium in its near 100 year history. Each summer, they take the same field as old affiliates of the St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres, and numerous college and high school baseball players of the past.

After the 2021 season, following an ownership change, it was announced that the team would change its name to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, playing homage to the Land of Lincoln and the Capital City’s one-of-a-kind, recognizable Horseshoe Sandwich.

The first season under the Lucky Horseshoes namesake saw tremendous success including Springfield's first playoff appearance since 2016 and just second appearance since 2010. With over 20 players calling central Illinois their current or childhood home, the 'Shoes took full advantage of the baseball talent throughout the Springfield and Central Illinois area.
