For 45 years, Christine Bock has been a vital member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, serving both as Principal Violist and section player since joining the ensemble in 1981. A versatile musician and dedicated educator, she has performed extensively across the country—including at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall—and appeared as soloist with the Illinois Symphony, Illinois Chamber Orchestra, South Bend Symphony, and more.
Chris has inspired generations of students through her intuitive and encouraging teaching style, working with learners from beginners to university majors. She spent eleven seasons as a core member of the South Bend Symphony’s Principal String Quintet and Quartet, creating imaginative educational programs that brought classical music to schools throughout Indiana and Illinois.
Her artistic range also shines in The Shanties Irish rock band, where she has explored her love of Irish music as a fiddler since 2011.
Christine continues to enjoy a rich blend of performing, teaching, and creative work from her home in Normal, Illinois, performing on her David Wiebe viola and Douglas Raguse bow.
