The Illinois Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce auditions to fill positions in the Strings including 1st Assistant Concertmaster (One-Year Contract), Violin I-9, Violin II-9, Cello 3, & Cello 7.
Auditions will be held on Thursday, September 3-4, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Normal, Illinois.

Applications must be received by Monday, August 3, 2026. Audition packet will be sent via email once the application is complete (form filled out, resume & deposit received).
* Deposits may be made by sending a check payable to the ISO or online. Online deposits have a $5 processing surcharge that is non-refundable.
If a position is filled by a current member of the ISO, the resulting vacancy may be filled as a one year contract at these auditions.
Applicants will be invited based on résumé screening.
All positions will begin in the 2026-2027 concert season. The Illinois Symphony Orchestra is a per service regional orchestra. These are per-service positions and the 2024-2025 season rates are $156 for Associate Concertmaster, $124.8 for Principal, $114.40 for Associate Principal and $104.00 for Section. Additional compensation includes travel reimbursement and housing accommodations. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and U.S. work eligibility and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
Members of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra are members of Local 301 of the American Federation of Musicians.
