Illinois Symphony Guild of Bloomington-Normal

Fundraising and music education to benefit the Illinois Symphony Orchestra

Welcome to the 2017-2018 season of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the 25th anniversary. What a way to celebrate by welcoming Ken Lam as our new Music Director.

The Bloomington Guild began the year, as we always do, with a membership lunch. Once again this year, it was held at the beautiful home of Bob and Julie Dobski.

We have a great year planned to support the ISO. Again this year, we will host pre-concert lunches, Concert Chats, at the Bloomington Country Club. Both of the Chamber Concerts, will be preceded by our ever popular pre-concert dinners. There will be opportunity to celebrate a fabulous concert with Music director Ken Lam, musicians of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and other music enthusiasts with light refreshments at our post-concert receptions.

The Silver Screen Gala in Bloomington was held Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the ISU Bone Student Center in the Brown Ballroom. It starred musicians of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra led by Music Director Ken Lam in a special performance of Greatest Hits from the Silver Screen. This year the gala was chaired by Honorary Stars, Larry and Marlene Dietz and Jon and Ed Voegele.

The Symphony Guild is always eager to support the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. New members to the guild are always welcome. If you are not a member yet, we would love for you to join us!

What a great start. Let the music begin!

Illinois Symphony Guild of Springfield

To assist in assuring the future of LIVE symphonic music in central Illinois.

Mission Statement

We are so excited this year to be welcoming Ken Lam, the new Music Director of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra which is celebrating 25 years!  We will be working with him as we plan events to keep the Guild members closely attuned to the activities of the Orchestra.

The Illinois Symphony Guild of Springfield supports the Orchestra by promoting its activities, raising funds for its progress and fostering the art of music through educational projects.

The Guild undertakes several fundraising activities throughout the year, plus it participates with the ISO’s Board of Directors in all major fundraisers. In addition to contributing financially to the Orchestra, the Guild also awards music scholarships to local talented youth every year.

Guild members meet regularly for fun and fellowship.  There will be several luncheons and other activities this season to meet with our director and musicians. We are looking forward to our Silver Screen Gala which will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Crowne Plaza.  Your attendance of “Symphony Suppers”, held prior to each concert, is a great way to experience excellent food, great conversation and prime parking for the concert.

There are many volunteer opportunities within the Guild such as: providing home-stays for regional musicians; stuffing programs for all concerts; providing lunch for the Orchestra after the youth concert and refreshments at rehearsals; and preparing and delivering educational packets to the schools for the youth concert.

It is rewarding and fun to be a part of this organization. Membership is open to anyone interested in participating in the Guild and its mission. Please come join us!
