Illinois Symphony Orchestra Appoints Ken Lam as Music Director

The Illinois Symphony Orchestra announces the appointment of Ken Lam as Music Director effective July 1, 2017. Mr. Lam emerged with unanimous support of the ISO’s Board of Directors and Search Committee, musicians, audience members, and communities in an extensive search process lasting two years with four experienced candidates conducting the orchestra in the 2016-2017 season.

“From a field of four world class conductors, one has emerged who has excited our musicians, our audience and our board.  We are pleased to welcome Maestro Ken Lam to lead the Illinois Symphony Orchestra as it begins its 25th anniversary season,” says Roger Hunt, Board Member of the ISO’s Board of Directors and Search Committee Co-Chair.

"I am very honored to become the next Music Director of the ISO. When I worked with the orchestra this past season, I was struck by the quality of the music making and the dedication of the musicians, the staff, the board and all of the symphony's supporters. I look forward to joining the ISO family and making beautiful music for both communities," states Mr. Lam.
