An Evening at Highclere Castle

Peter & the Wolf with the Magic Circle Mime Company

Kids of all ages are invited to attend a special performance of Peter and the Wolf, presentedy by the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Magic Circle Mime Company on Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Springfield and Friday, April 15, 2016 in Bloomington.

Music Director Alastair Willis unites concert orchestra with visual theater for the classic children's story of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. The Prokofiev classic becomes an exciting theatrical and musical experience in this fifty-minute production with the Magic Circle Mime Company. The narration is replaced by movement and the concert hall becomes the scene of action as the conductor's assistant, Peter, tries to capture a vicious wolf that threatens orchestra and audience alike. With the help of the musicians, good triumphs over evil and the concert ends in victorious celebration.

The Illinois Symphony Orchestra Education and Community Engagement Committee has created a teacher's guide that includes a variety of of lessons and activities that may be incorporated into your classroom to enhance your classes' experience at the concert. The Committee also invites your students to participate in an art contest for this fabulously fun concert. The teacher's guide and art contest information is available below. Please press the links to print a copy.
