A terrific and titanic ending to this exciting season begins with Mozart’s energetic Symphony No. 32, a short, theatrical- inspired overture which leads to the terrific and whimsical jazz-inspired Piano Concerto of Maurice Ravel featuring the stellar pianist Adam Neiman.  The bold and titanic score of Mahler’s First Symphony is an experience that no one will want to miss!

 The triumphant sounds of Grieg’s Piano Concerto with world-renowned and hometown-favorite pianist Awadagin Pratt along with the quirky Chairman Dances of John Adams herald in the start of a new era for the Illinois Symphony Orchestra.  The masterfully dramatic and tragic depiction of Roméo and Juliette set to music by Hector Berlioz round out this triumphant occasion.

Hold on to your seats as this evening of great music will pass you by in a furious flash.  John Adam’s popular Short Ride in a Fast Machine kicks off this musical journey that will hit warp speed with the dynamic and fiery playing of violinist Nicolas Kendall in Chris Brubeck’s Spontaneous Combustion.  This fast ride comes to a close with classical music’s most popular symphony, Beethoven’s Fifth!

An evening to be dazzled, opening with the ecstatic Rapture of Christopher Rouse which transports us to a world devoid of darkness.  Upon arrival, critically-acclaimed harpist Bridget Kibbey joins the orchestra for a journey on rented angel wings in Rodrigo’s seraphicConcierto Serenata.  Based on The Arabian Nights, the exotic and colorful Scheherazade of Rimsky-Korsakov is a perfect ending to bring us back to Earth.
